DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Towards its mission of fostering=
international collaborations of the highest caliber, the New York Ope=
ra Society is commissioning a chamber opera for children from renowned=
Norwegian composer Gisle Kverndokk (NYOS 2010-2011 Composer-in-Reside=
nce) and celebrated librettist Øystein Wiik called Max and Moritz. =0D=0A=0=
D=0AAdapted from the seminal children's book "Eine Bubengeschichte in =
sieben Streichen" by Wilhelm Busch, the story is about two small boys\=
; two rascals that play bad tricks on the people in their little villa=
ge\; the old widow and her chicken, the tailor, the organist, the uncl=
e and the baker. The story ends with the two boys grained together wit=
h the corn in the mill, ending up as food for the ducks. This is a gro=
tesque, moral fairytale in the style of the brothers Grimm and of Roal=
d Dahl and appeals to adults and children alike. =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=
