Upon this Handful of Earth was a World premiere opera by Gisle Kverndokk, co-presented with Sacred Music in a Sacred Space.

Received its world premiere as part of the 2016–2017 season, co-presented by Sacred Music in a Sacred Space and New York Opera Society. The work is by Norwegian composer Gisle Kverndokk, a frequent NYOS collaborator whose other works for the organization include "Letters from Ruth" and "Max und Moritz."
