A multi-city tour with Opera Nordfjord marking 200 years of Norwegian immigration to the U.S., anchored by a Scandinavian-repertoire specialist soprano and a celebrated Norwegian composer-librettist team.

"North Star Rising," presented with Opera Nordfjord as part of "Crossings 200," toured four venues across 2025 marking the 200th anniversary of Norwegian immigration to the United States: Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill (Aug 11–13), the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC (Aug 23), Norway House & The Edvard Grieg Society in Minneapolis (Oct 6), and Scandinavia House in NYC (Oct 8).

The Scandinavia House program described the evening as pairing Norwegian art songs with excerpts of an acclaimed new musical by NYOS's Norwegian composer-librettist duo, Gisle Kverndokk and Øystein Wiik, with Wiik himself narrating. Soprano Alisa Jordheim — described by the San Francisco Chronicle as "vocally resplendent" with "impeccable coloratura" — is an American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellow who earned a doctoral cognate in Scandinavian song and diction at the University of Cincinnati and studied at the University of Oslo; her 2024–2025 season also included role debuts at Opera Western Reserve, Opera Orlando, and San Francisco Opera. She was joined by tenor Allan Palacios Chan and repetiteur Jason Wirth, with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
